Rebecca Paige Webb Meyst

July 20, 1948 – August 3, 2024

Becky, the beloved wife, step-mom, grandma, teacher, leader and friend to many, was born to James Archie Webb and Ruby Cantiberry Webb in Asheboro, NC. She resided in Ramseur, NC until graduation from High School. She received her teaching degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Upon graduation she began teaching Middle School in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system. Encouraged by one of her administrators, she obtained her Masters Degree in Special Education (also ASU) and taught 7th grade special ed students for the remainder of her teaching career. She retired in 2000 after her final year teaching at Clemmons Middle School.

Becky, an only child, was married in Ardmore UMC, to Robert Alan Meyst, Sr. (Bob) on November 13, 1994 and became the Step Mom of her husband’s two children, Catherine Elizabeth Meyst Clarkson (Dave) and Robert A. Meyst, Jr. (Tresa). At the same time she was embraced by Bob’s extended family mostly residing in the state of Michigan. All of her Webb family, except her cousin Janice Allen of Florida are deceased. She is survived by her husband Bob, step children and two grandsons living in Charlotte, NC, Bryce McCord Clarkson and Tyler Wesley Clarkson.

She served as President of the North Carolina Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She was inducted into Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators in 1987. She served ADK in several capacities serving as North Carolina Alpha Delta Kappa State President during their 2008-2010 biennium. During her presidency, in 2009, she and the NCADK sisters hosted the Alpha Delta Kappa International Convention in Greensboro, NC. She later served as ADK Southeast Region Chaplain under International Vice President for the region, Sandy Wolfe of Virginia.

She and her husband Bob attended nearly every State, Region and International Convention from 1994 until her health prevented attendance in 2022. Together with the other six ADK State Presidents of the Southeast Region they became known as the SER7 and developed a lasting bond with annual retreats in Pigeon Forge, TN until 2022 when her health failed her. Becky served her students and her Sorority sisters faithfully for over thirty-five years.

Becky loved to serve in the choir at both Ardmore UMC and later Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of the Whitener Bible Fellowship Class at Calvary. Becky (with Bob) served on mission teams to Belgium, Slovenia and several trips to help with recovery in the Gulf after Katrina’s devastation in 2005. Together with Bob they hosted Bible Studies and Meals with God weekly in their home. They also opened their home for extended periods of time to individuals needing fellowship, encouragement and a place to call home. They called it “Home-Away-From-Home.” Her generous and gentle welcoming spirit encouraged and sheltered many of God’s children, some during difficult seasons of their life. Their first guest, for five months, Marcus Dilley of Charlotte, NC is singing for his beloved ‘surrogate’ Mom at her memorial service at Calvary Baptist Church, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
