Jeannette Plummer

November 4, 1927 – January 7, 2025

Jeannette Plummer, 97, of Winston Salem, NC, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at her Arbor Acres home after a brief illness.

Mrs. Plummer was born on November 4, 1927, in Radford, VA to the late Pastor Ellis Claire Jessee and Lottie Roberts Jessee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thelmus Gentry Plummer, Jr. ; her sister Betty Jessee Stevens, and brother Arthur Claire Jessee; his son-in-law Stephen N. Gilchrist and her grandsons Matthew R. Plummer and Lee A. Plummer.

A graduate of Radford College, she went on to serve as a teacher in the Roanoke, Virginia school system and later in life at Huguenot Academy in Powhatan, VA. She dedicated her life as a loving mother while raising four children, a devoted wife and caring friend and grandmother.

Mrs. Plummer is survived by her four children and their spouses, Mark Roberts Plummer and his wife Shelly of Winston-Salem, NC, Jay Gentry Plummer and his wife Anne of Raleigh, NC, Christopher Dale Plummer and his wife Annie of Augusta, GA and Alison Page Brown and her husband Dr. Michael Brown of Winston -Salem, NC. In addition, Mrs. Plummer is survived by eleven grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Scott, Meagan Beth, Mitch, Meghan, Kate, Christopher, Alison and Katharine; and fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in Radford, VA at a later date.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Arbor Acres Retirement Community for their care over the last 16 years.
