On Friday morning, Aug 28, 2026, Jeane boarded the “Glory Train” bound for eternity to the place her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, promised to prepare for her over 2000 years ago when He ascended to Heaven after His birth, ministry, crucifixion and resurrection. She was more than ready, she was ecstatic. Jeane was 95 years old and had known and professed Jesus as Savior since age 9. She was born to William Duke and Susie Pearl Duke (Baba) and was the youngest of nine children. Her siblings all preceded her in death.
Widowed in Dec 2020 by her high school sweetheart, Rev. Dr. E. Perry Mobley, they ministered together in churches throughout the South, Midwest, and West regions of our country. They traveled and ministered in Brazil, Jamaica, Israel and Kazakhstan. Mrs. Mobley once said, “serving the Lord is my greatest joy in life.” She led Bible studies, taught Sunday School, VBS, was a speaker for a number of Christian meetings and enjoyed taking groups of women to Montreat, NC for conferences each year.
Mrs. Mobley taught first grade for 2 years in Tifton, GA until their first son was born. Nine years later Jeane and Perry adopted 3 biological children while serving Fifth Ave Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN. The family moved to Winston-Salem, NC in April 1964 where Perry was called to pastor Reynolda Presbyterian Church. They moved to Florence, SC in 1979.
Jeane’s interests outside the church included birds, wildflowers, herbs, pottery and primitive antiques. She traveled with the 4 children on a camping trip across the country for a 3 week adventure. Following behind her brother, she pulled a pop-up camper and was assisted with the driving by the eldest son, age 16. It was quite an adventure to say the least.
She is survived by Duke Mobley (Pam) of Rogers, AR, David Mobley of Winston-Salem, Elisabeth Sims (James) of Winston-Salem, and Mark Mobley (Carol) of Adams Run, SC. Her grandchildren include Melissa Niebrugge (John) of Arkansas, Hunter Mobley of Arkansas, Christopher Sims (Kelly) of Winston-Salem, Andrew Sims (Stacey) of Advance, NC, Jennifer Reeves (Keith) of Gastonia, NC, J.P. Mobley (deceased), Matthew Mobley of Winston-Salem, and Bradley Mobley of Adams Run, SC. There are 7 great grandchildren, Molly Niebrugge, Thomas, James, Graeme and Scarlett Reeves, Avery Sims and Caleb Mobley.
A celebration of life and praise to God for her faithful service will be held Saturday, Sept 12 at noon at Reynolda Church, 2200 Reynolda Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Visitation will follow in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HOSPICE FOUNDATION @ BAYADA.com or charity of choice.
